Training Curricula and Materials Development

In its effort to develop the capacity of project stakeholders and beneficiaries, the organization has rich experience in the development of training materials in the form of manuals and handouts, leaflets and other brochures. It always builds on its archive of training materials by adding state of the art technologies that meet local, national and international standards. Some of these materials include manuals for training of Latrine artisans, Sanimart Operators/attendants, Water Board & WATSAN members, Environmental Health Assistants (EHAs) and District Water and Sanitation Teams (DWSTs). The rest are School Health Committee members, School based Health Coordinators, Water Point vendors and caretakers among a number of them.

Design of Innovative Technologies

NHance has always striven to be abreast with state of the art technologies in the environmental sanitation sector. The company has in its archive a wide range of technologies for the management of both liquid and solid waste. It has developed management ladders for both liquid and solid waste in all the streams of both liquid and solid waste management. Specifically there are varieties of innovative designs of toilet technologies that can be used in any environmental and socio-economic setting as in rural, small towns and cities in Ghana and other parts of the sub region. For the promotion and acquisition of household toilets the organization is also well equipped in the design of Sanitation Markets (SaniMarts). In the area of solid waste there are also designs of intermediate (Transfer) stations with concrete platforms to receive various forms of skip containers. In all these designs NHance has always maintained a high quality of standard and also factors in affordability issues by incorporating in the designs local materials as much as possible but at the same time without compromising on the safety of the facilities. The company is also a strong proponent of sustainable waste management and especially greener production and consumption patterns. It therefore considers nothing as waste but a resource by adopting the “3 Rs” (Reduction, Reuse and Recycling) of waste management.
